Steven Paul was born and raised in Kansas City. As a young boy he was drawn in by hillbilly music. He remembers many road trips, listening and singing along with his Dad to old tapes of Marty Robbins and Roger Miller. He began playing guitar as a teenager, and at the young age of 17 he began a career as a solo act entertaining in restaurants and clubs. He went on to become a First Place Winner in the "Marlboro Country Music Contest". He also coordinated and become the lead singer in the country band called "The Timberland Band".
The band became a winner of the"61 Country-WDAF Radio Country Music Contest". From there his career took him to Nashville, Tennessee where he performed both in the band and as a solo act at many venues around town, including the "Opryland Hotel". Over the past decade, he has shared the Gospel and his music in the fair circuit and at various churches and other venues throughout Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas,
His songwriting became more and more sufficient after being taken under the wings of his dad's cousin, "John E. (Pap) McCollum" (writer of songs cut by John Michael Montgomery, Toby Keith, etc.). With the help of John he finished writing all the songs for his 'Cowboy Boots' CD which was produced by Kent Wells and recorded at "2 Monkeys Productions". It was mixed by "Kevin Beamish" and mastered by Benny Quinn at "Masterfonics". He just released his final song "God is here to stay" off his latest CD, "One Nation under God'. Through God's grace the song settled in at #2.
