Carter Sampson is an Okie born, Oklahoma City based singer-songwriter. Blessed by a musical legacy from a family that includes such talents as Roy Orbison, Carter’s journey as a musician seems to have been predestined.


A naturally independent free spirit, what started as a pass-time at age 15 had matured into a dedicated passion of creation and performance. Her empowering, relatable and appealing music has garnered her an incredibly loyal fan base.


Audiences and sound engineers alike find that appearances can be deceiving as this diminutive figure delivers a powerful and compelling performance.

Carter plays many outdoor festivals which have included Rock Bend Folk Festival in Saint Peter, MN, the Paseo Arts Festival, the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts, The Illinois River Jam and has performed multiple times at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, OK. Carter has opened shows for The Elephant Revival, Pat Green and toured Texas and Oklahoma with Bitch and Animal of Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records.


She currently tours regularly in OK, KS, NM, AR and CO. Carter was named a "Top 12 Finalist" in the 2012 Mountain Stage NewSong Contest and performed at the Lincoln Center in NY, NY. This year she won 1st place in the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at Merlefest in NC with her song Wild Bird, 4th place in the Telluride Troubadour Contest at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and a Top 10 Finalist in the Rock Mountain Folks Festival's Songwriters Showcase. Her newest album “Wilder Side” has been recorded in Norman with Travis Linville and mastered at Bell Labs.
